Artist: Xiahou Wen (China, 1935)

Born in Fenyi, Jiangxi Province, Xiahou Wen is a celebrated Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and recipient of the State Council’s Special Government Allowance. A graduate of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, he has devoted more than forty years to ceramic art.

Xiahou’s works have won over thirty awards at major national and international exhibitions and are held in prestigious collections, including the National Museum of China and Ziguang Pavilion in Zhongnanhai. He has also received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Chinese Arts and Crafts and the title of Outstanding Folk Artist from UNESCO.

This celadon Double-Fish Basin exemplifies his refined technique and mastery of traditional porcelain craftsmanship.
