Celadon Flower Vessel
Artist: Mao Zhengcong (China)
Mao Zhengcong is a nationally recognized Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and Master of Chinese Ceramic Art, honored with the State Council’s Special Government Allowance. He has held numerous solo exhibitions and cultural exchanges in Japan, Macau, Singapore, and Taiwan.
From 1964 to 1986, Mao’s works won multiple provincial and national awards. Between 1988 and 2006, his ceramics were collected by prestigious institutions including Zhongnanhai’s Ziguang Pavilion, the Palace Museum, the National Art Museum of China, and the China National Arts and Crafts Museum.
His pieces have received international acclaim—praised by figures such as Margaret Thatcher and Henry Kissinger—and have been chosen as official gifts for Chinese premiers Li Peng and Zhu Rongji (1995–2001) as well as Premier Wen Jiabao (2005). Works have also been collected by Deng Xiaoping and prominent collectors in Taiwan.
This celadon flower vessel reflects Mao’s mastery of traditional techniques combined with an elegant, contemporary aesthetic.
