Born in Gejiu, Yunnan Province, Lai Qingguo is a nationally recognized master of Chinese arts and crafts. Fascinated with art from childhood, he has specialized in the study and creation of traditional Chinese metalwork since the early 1980s. After completing arts-and-crafts design training at Yunnan Arts University in 1983, he worked as a professional designer and later became art director for leading cultural enterprises in Honghe.


Lai has served as chairman of the Gejiu Artists Association and as a guest professor at Yunnan Arts University and Honghe University. His creations have won numerous national gold, silver, and bronze awards. He was named Yunnan Province Master of Arts and Crafts in 2006 and China Arts and Crafts Master in 2007.
