Artist: Hiroshi Yamano (Japan, b. 1956)

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, Hiroshi Yamano is an internationally acclaimed glass artist. He earned a degree in history from Chuo University in 1981 and a master’s in glass art from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1989.

Yamano founded the Ezra Glass Studio in 1991 and taught at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, where he received the prestigious Corning Museum of Glass Award. He won the Asahi Newspaper Prize at the 1993 Japan Glass Exhibition (Odakyu Museum, Tokyo) and has presented solo exhibitions at leading venues including Heller Gallery in New York (1997, 2000) and Marx Saunders Gallery in Chicago (1999).

Since 1998 he has directed the combined Ezra Glass Studio and Kanazu Forest of Creation Glass Workshop, and he currently serves as Professor of Crafts at Osaka University of Arts.
